KATE PURMAL
Sr. VP & General Manager, Digital Content, SanDisk Corporation
Words of Wisdom: Our fear of failure keeps us from asking for – and getting – what we want. Anything is possible – you just have to be willing to propose it – and fight to make it happen.
Kate Purmal pioneered the art of successful part-time work strategies for corporations. While at Palm Computing as a member of the senior management team, she demonstrated that a four-day work week could work with out a deleterious effect on the company. Upon the birth of her second child, she exited the corporate world as a part-time Director level employee to start her own consulting practice only to re-enter five years later as CEO of U3. She has consulted in marquis companies such as Adobe, Hewlett Packard, Intuit, and CBS Market Watch. She has been an influential force in the computer industry for over 20 years. A former co-worked said “Kate is a remarkable human being. She is admired, respected and loved by all that know her. She is a tremendous businesswoman, thought leader, mentor, friend and mother. Kate is a real role model for corporate leaders who want to tackle the work world and have a terrific personal and family life.” Kate is also an author of Strong Voices, Real Choices: Professional Women Speak Out About Their Choice to Work Less.
